The ever-expanding terror threat in Pakistan has not only affected country’s civilian regime and its economy, but it has also ruined ancient Buddhist monasteries and other such historical relics in the war ravaged North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
Places such as Mingora, Peshawar and the Swat Valley were dotted with magnificent remains of the Gandhara kingdom, which flourished from the 6th century B.C. to the 11th century A.D, but the military operation which was initiated to flush out the extremists from the region has left a trail of destruction of these historical relics.
Just as the Afghan Taliban destroyed the gigantic 1,500-year-old statues of the Buddha in Bamiyan, Afghanistan in 2001, militants in Pakistan have continuously targeted the various Buddhist heritage sites in Pakistan, driving away foreign research teams and tourists.

Did Christ Study Buddhism?

Now here’s an intriguing concept. Did Christ spend his teenage years in India studying Buddhism?
The spotlight is back on Jesus Christ and his India connection as the world celebrates Christmas Friday. Some historians believe he spent 17 years of early life – from the age of 13 to 30 – in India learning Buddhism and the Vedas.
“There are references that Christ’s family (parents) settled in Nazareth, but the next time he appeared in Nazareth, Jesus was 30. He was said to have been growing in wisdom and stature in the missing years,” British film producer Kent Walwin told IANS.
Here to receive the Dayawati Modi Award for arts, culture and education in 2009, Walwin’s latest project, “Young Jesus: The Missing Years”, will explore early years of the messiah, which are not described in the Gospels.
According to Walwin, his movie is “on the Apostolic Gospels, which says Jesus was last seen in West Asia when he was 13-14 years old”.
The first part of the movie will be based on Gospels and the second part of the movie will be “pure conjecture based on archival material”, the filmmaker said.
There are several references to the India connection.

Feng Shui – Living Room Feng Shui Design Do’s & Don’ts
Author: AdministratorDec 27
You need a Feng Shui cure for your career and you needed it yesterday! Your career is on the ropes, stalled out completely or job prospects seem to vanish as quickly as they appear on the horizon.
Maybe you’ve hit the glass ceiling or you’re caught in the proverbial catch-22 many college graduates find themselves? Sure, you have the great education but no experience! (How do you get experience if no one will hire you?)
Feng Shui Bedroom Tips: #2
Where Should I Sleep?
If you have a full view of the windows and entrance to your room when lying on your bed, you’re off to a great start to the correct feng shui position. Behind you should be a solid wall that symbolizes support and security for you. Never ever position your bed facing your door so your head, feet and doorway are in one straight line. This is known as the coffin position and will interfere with your sleep with it’s negative energy patterns. Other things that can interfere with restful sleep are construction beams crossing above you, even mirrors, hanging mobiles or anything else that can hang over the bed. They can drain you of energy and take away those precious hours of rest we need to be healthy. If these kind of things exist in your home and can’t be avoided you should look at employing some feng shui cures to counterbalance this bad energy. You can find more information on this on my website.
Feng Shui Bedroom Tips: #3
Mirror Mirror on the Wall
Mirrors have reflective qualities that when used in feng shui can help to bounce energy, either good or bad around your space either out of the door or back into the room. In your bedroom however, reflective energy from mirrors will disturb your sleep. Although not recommended, if you do have a mirror in your room, make sure that it doesn’t reflect you when you’re lying on your bed, resting. If you share your bed with your partner, it’s important that the mirror doesn’t reflect th bed, you or your partner. This symbolizes more than two people in your relationship and can promote infidelity. It’s best to remove the mirrors that break these rules to encourage a healthy, positive bedroom environment.
Do’s:
1- Use a larger piece of furniture instead of several smaller pieces to create that vision of a larger space and help the Chi flow better.
2- Bring in plants and fresh flowers to lift up the chi energy, the spirits and good moods. They also support good health by reducing EMFs (Electrical Magnetic Field). Having a lot of electrical equipment can make you feel lethargic. Protect yourself from these radiations by displaying plants in front of stereo systems, TV and electronic equipment.
3- Bring matching pairs of lamps, accessories or chairs to create balance and harmony in your space
4- Pair clean square and rectangular lines with some curves to soften and balance a design look. Circular shapes bring intimacy, softness and comfort to a space.
5-Use Functional storage that will keep your possessions of the floor and keep your home neat and clean.
6- Bring extra comfort to your living room with window treatments in beautiful fabrics, comfortable and deep sofas and chairs, fluffy thick rugs.
7- Lighten up the room with light color shades, soft task lighting, sconces and candles and choose your fireplace as the focal point of the living room. It brings people together and create warmth.
A faceted crystal cure can also reduce or eliminate any confusing energies that detract from your ability to focus and produce results.
- A clear quartz crystal for your work desk. A beautiful visual cure and one that has the ability to become a constant reminder that your career success is imminent, is a clear quartz crystal piece.
A good location for the crystal is the back left corner of your desk, where it is out of the way, yet still in view and ever present as you work.
You may want to become more familiar with the five elements and their corresponding shapes before choosing your desktop crystal.
5- Avoid any depressing or violent imagery or wall art. This may upset the home harmony. Choose pleasing views and art pieces.
6- keep piles of magazines and papers. They create stagnant energy. Give them away or recycle them.
7- Don’t leave dead or dry flowers in your space. They create stagnant energy. They always need to be fresh and vibrant to energize the area

Design Options for an Optimal Room
Author: AdministratorDec 27
It’s often reported that the average person spends about one third of his or her life sleeping. But add in other activities and we actually spend much more than that in the bedroom. Shouldn’t it, then, be a stylish and comfortable place to be? The modern materials and design options of today — along with a bit of good marketing — guarantees the delivery of the style of your choice.
There’s the classical American Colonial look, the opposite of the current modern furniture style. Though “four poster” these days brings to mind images of rock bands, it also refers to the classic bed style. Headboards are elegantly carved from woods such as oak or maple and look spectacular. To complete the American Colonial look, add a cloth canopy and draperies.
Ironically, this style appears as the epitome of the upscale, well-to-do bedroom, yet the designs actually go back to the ordinary merchant of post-Revolutionary days. Whether a chest that can be used to store a thick down comforter or a bureau that matches your American Colonial style, this style reflects our historical heritage.
Early in the last century, Asian design gained in popularity and continues on today. For good reason: they incorporate ancient elegance with modern esthetic ideas of efficiency and minimalism. They also make possible a range of colors that few other choices can encompass. Bright reds, sea greens and the colors of the sun and sky are all part of the Asian palette. Modern design even incorporates aspects of Asian design, as in the noguchi table.
A classic piece is the black lacquered armoire, with mother of pearl accent. Even the smallest accessories, such as a jade or ceramic bowl, will add an Asian touch to the room’s design. The result is both cool and hot, both sexy and stylish. This yin and yang effect of Asian bedding and furniture brings into an intimate area all the exotic and stylish attributes that culture is famous for. A set of satin goose-down pillows in Mandarin red is sure to be both comfortable and visually stunning. Try spreading a stylish and functional area rugs with an Asian flair across the hardwood floor. That’s the way of Asian design.
Swedish and Scandinavian design gained popularity in the 1950s. The popularity of the design hasn’t waned in the intervening years. And who would question why? Swedish design features clean lines and gorgeous yet simple elegance.
The hallmarks of Shaker style are reflected in this design, it’s main features simplicity and peace. That’s always appreciated in these hectic modern times. But it also is an echo of the high-tech look that dominates computers, stereo designs and much more today. With this setup, you can integrate easily with other styles in the house, while maintaining a place of refuge from the world. The best of all possible worlds!
Whatever style suits your taste, and it could even be an eclectic mixture of many, you’ll find modern bedding and bedroom furniture or accent designs available to match. Considering that you spend about one third of your life in your bedroom, it makes sense to invest in beautiful furniture and accents.
